About Studio Eclectica
Studio Eclectica is unique to Sydney and as the name implies, is an eclectic and unique collection of antiques, 20th Century furniture and decorative arts from around the world in one space. You will find things from the 18th Century to the present. Furniture from France, Italy, the U.S., and Asia is all here. And the pricing is equally as eclectic.
My concept is simple, Studio Eclectica shows how furniture of different styles, and periods can occupy the same room.... sometimes harmoniously or as a juxtaposition to visually make things "pop" in your living spaces. One need not be tied down to any one period of furniture, material of construction, or country of origin.
In addition to encouraging a mixing of countries, periods and styles, Studio Eclectica will introduce furniture from designers and manufacturers from Europe and the United States. Among these designers you might see pieces by designers Jansen, Jacques Adnet (former designer for Hermes), Paul Kiss, Gio Ponti, or T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings, to name a few. And while provenance is a good thing, it is not a qualification that is paramount here. It is about the form, the function, the finish, and it's ability to delight the eye.

Nothing at Studio Eclectica takes itself too seriously. It offers tasteful furniture with a sense of whimsy and fun that will bring style to your rooms. Each piece is individually picked for it's uniqueness, it's function, and/or ability to enhance a room.. Since the shop is an extension of my home, if it won't look good in my home, it won't go to Studio Eclectica.

Antique and vintage furniture develops a character as it ages. Metals and woods take on a "patina", while paint and gilding may change colour slightly and show signs of wear. All these things add to the rich and varied life they've had. It makes them what they are and to completely restore them is to take away their history, their life.
At Studio Eclectica, each item is allowed to keep it's history, it's "soul", and will remain as unchanged as possible. Some cleaning, new upholstery, or fixing of a loose joint is all that is attempted so the character of each item still remains. Some will be 'as found' but with maybe a bit of TLC. Nothing will be done to take away from it's character.

When you visit Studio Eclectica don't be surprised to find an 18th Century Japanese table next to a 1940's French chair or a pair 1950's cabinets next to a late 19th French Louis XVI-style settee. A room deserves at least one interesting piece to serve as a focal point or conversation piece. It's worth the trip to see what's here. You never know what you'll find!
And if you're not quite sure what will go in a particular space you've got, contact me or send me images of the space in question along with what you are looking for and I'll offer suggestions. And if required, I'll come to your home in the inner city.
So come in, have a look around and have fun!
I look forward to welcoming you........
